Popular television doctor Dr Victor Ramathesele and top advocates - Ishmael Semenya, Jackson Mabesele and Nthabiseng Sepanya Mogale - will join other former pupils of Tseki Senior Secondary School in QwaQwa to celebrate its 30th birthday at the weekend.
They will also be joined by Neo Masithela, Free State MEC for tourism, environmental and economic affairs, Peter Skhosana, the mayor of Emfuleni and many other former pupils of the school.
The two-day festivities on September 28 and 29 will also celebrate Heritage Month. As well as past and present pupils, past and present teachers will also attend the event.
At the heart of the celebrations will be the reunion of about 400 former pupils who were the first to enrol when the school opened its doors in 1977.
On Friday, the school will host a four-hour function.
Tseki, the only school then for pupils in standards 9 and 10, and part of a vibrant and politically charged learning environment, has been transformed into a centre of life-long learning. The school currently caters for pupils from discontinued and unviable farm schools.
With a roll of about 200 grades 10, 11 and 12 pupils, the school caters for children who otherwise would be subjected to dehumanising conditions of learning under trees, walking long distances to and from school and continuously feeling the pangs of hunger, if they were left at the farm schools.
Apart from reminding them about their life behind desks three decades ago, the former pupils will interact with grades 11 and 12 pupils and motivate them for their year-end examinations.
Central to the reunion is the establishment of the alumni association and a fund that will be administered jointly with the school to benefit pupils.
To give expression to this noble idea, students of yesteryear will pledge financial support and develop innovative ideas on how to preserve their legacy.
All former students are requested to present themselves in their uniforms - black and white - at assembly for morning devotion at 8.30am this Saturday.
The inaugural principal of the school, Joe Makoanyane, will address his pupils before they march in neat lines to the dining hall for breakfast where "boys" will sit separately from "girls".
The evening will be rounded off with a debate and a traditional lendora - concert, the highlight of every boarding school life in the QawQwa of old.
