The future of former United Independent Front president Ike Kekana is hanging by a thread in the Limpopo legislature.

The legislature said yesterday it would swear in a new person to replace Kekana, who was dismissed from the party.

But Kekana, who has since formed a new party, the New Vision Party, said his dismissal was irregular. He wants to retain his seat in the legislature under his new party.

Legislature spokesman Kenny Mathivha said yesterday they would be swearing in a new person to replace Kekana.

"Arrangements are at an advanced stage and the new person will be sworn in soon," he said.

Mathivha said as soon as the new person is sworn in, Kekana and his entourage would be notified to vacate the offices they are currently occupying in the legislature.

Sowetan has learnt that the person to be sworn in is the UIF's Alpheus Makobe

Kekana said he would go to court to review his dismissal. He said the legislature had acted illegally in not allowing him a seat in his new party.
