Four wickets by Morne Morkel helped South Africa restrict New Zealand to 153 for eight in their ICC World Twenty20 Super Eight match at Kingsmead yesterday.

New Zealand, who won their first two second round matches and who are virtually certain of a semifinal berth, started off very well with an opening partnership of 68 between Brendon McCullum and Lou Vincent.

This was before Morkel got his first breakthrough with the wickets of McCullum and Ross Taylor in the same over - both caught behind by Mark Boucher.

McCullum made 34 off 26 balls, hitting three fours and two sixes, with Shaun Pollock coming in for a lot of punishment.

Johan van der Wath bowled Vincent for 32 in the next over. Scott Styris made six before he was caught by AB de Villiers off Albie Morkel.

Craig McMillan and Jacob Oram shared a fifth wicket stand of 61 before Morne Morkel claimed his third wicket by bowling Oram for 15.

Nathan McCullum, playing in his debut match, was brilliantly run out by Van der Wath and Boucher, for one, and Daniel Vettori faced just three balls before he was caught by Albie Morkel off Van der Wath for one. - Sapa
