ANC must stop ruling and start governing

As a democratic nation, we do not want to be ruled, but governed. This will only happen when honesty and integrity are observed when the nation votes in 2009.

IFP leader Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi has always espoused and practiced clean governance. Leaders of political parties, especially the ANC, should at all times ensure that the mandate entrusted to them is carried out with honesty and integrity.

Clean governance and service delivery should be paramount, but unfortunately the ANC does not think so.

Recently, Mosiuoa Lekota said that some people become politicians to be rich, but when they realise that it is not possible with the salaries they receive, they resort to stealing. This is evident in the number of fraud and corruption cases involving high-ranking public representatives.

The ANC is not in touch with the needs of the people. There is no evidence of this in its delivery of crime prevention, HIV-Aids and job creation.

Elect leaders who have stood the test of time, who have integrity and understand people's needs and who will represent them better.

It is not surprising that in the recent floor crossing period, the IFP received 12 councillors. We never supported the legislation, but acknowledge that people have a constitutional right to join the party of their choice.
