The SABC has come under fire from opposition parties and the Freedom of Expression Institute (FXI) for allegedly censoring news.

The SABC has come under fire from opposition parties and the Freedom of Expression Institute (FXI) for allegedly censoring news.

This follows the public broadcaster's airing of Cosatu's four-day congress on its Monday night news bulletin, where ANC chairman Mosiuoa Lekota spoke.

The IFP and the FXI expressed concern that the SABC showed Lekota addressing members, but failed to show the part where he was jeered and booed.

This was in contrast to news of the same event on television channel e.tv which showed the members singing Awuleth' umshini wam'. - Canaan Mdletshe
