Trust Munangandu from Team Zambia won the seven-day Selati Africycle Tour 2007, which was presented by Toyota.
His teammate, Jupiter Nameebo, came second.
The seven-day race started in Badplaas last Sunday and ended in Nelspruit on Sunday.
Team Zambia, the first team from another African country to compete in the Africycle, had a strong presence from day one with at least two of the eight cyclists consistently securing spots in the top five.
Shashank Mehta, the Zambian team manager, praised his team after winning the race.
"The race has been an amazing and eye-opening experience. This is the first international race of this scale that our team has participated in, as we have only ever taken part in one-day events covering distances of 150km tops," said Mehta.
He said the extremely hot conditions and the mountainous terrain were also great tests because in Zambia their routes are very flat.
"The team is very happy at the opportunity to interact with international riders that have taken part in the Tour de France."
International cyclist Tony Rominger, who came second in the Tour de France at the height of his career, acknowledged team Zambia's performance on the tour.
"Team Zambia performed very well, daily making it into the top 10. They are a very strong team unit and are in exceptionally good shape," he said.
