After having a successful golf day last year, SGI Foundation will host a second golf day at Reading in Alberton next month.
The event is to raise funds for Mpundullea, a pre-school in Tembisa.
The pre-school was established after Caroline Mabunda realised that unemployed parents were unable to send their kids to pre-schools.
These kids end up being victims of starvation and child abuse. The pre-school caters for children between the ages of 3 three to six from unemployed parents, and houses about 85 children.
Mabunda, who runs the pre-school, said they had been operating out of her house until the Ekurhuleni Municipality found them a place at the local hall.
"I started this school eight years ago, operating in my house and now we're operating in a bigger place where there's movement," she said.
"Children are not paying any fees and we get help from Health and Nutrition and even people in the township assist us to buy food for the children."
Event organiser S'thembiso Ntshangase said: "It's our commitment to uplift the standard of the disadvantaged communities and to contribute to a worthy course, hence we're staging this golf day to assist the needy."
Last year the event raised about R6000 and this year they are determined to raise about R20 000.
"We had support from various stakeholders in the business arena and also managed to secure further sponsorship from Online Stationers," said Ntshangase.
"We would like to invite all individuals and companies who would like to participate in this event and contribute to the worthy cause."
