Award-winning gospel group, Soweto Gospel Choir, pictured, is back to thrill local audiences.

After a successful tour to Europe, United Kingdom and Asia, Australia, Canada and the United States of America, the group has started its local tour under the theme African Spirit.

The tour started in Cape Town at the Baxter Theatre on September 8 and was followed by a show-stopping performance at the Opera Theatre in Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape on Saturday.

Tomorrow evening (September 19) the group will perform at the Johannesburg Civic Theatre before wrapping up their tour at the Playhouse in Durban on September 28 and 29.

Since the group's first international performance in Australia in 2003, the choir has become a worldwide phenomenon, touring Europe extensively while building the group's brand.

With its emotionally powerful performances and exciting dance moves on stage, Soweto Gospel Choir continues to grow from strength to strength, expanding their repertoire to include a wide range of music, which draws from various music influences, and performing concerts around the world.

Soweto Gospel Choir has performed with world class stars like Peter Gabriel, the Wynans, Diana Ross and Jimmy Cliff.

With the group's rich rhythms and harmonies, and exciting stage presence, the Soweto group has endeared itself to local music fans.
