Easthigh Academy are the 2007 Silulumanzi Cup champions of the Mbombela High Schools tournament.
They beat Chief Charles Secondary School 2-0 to pocket the R10 000 cash first prize.
To say Chief Charles were ready for this clash would be an understatement, because they literally failed to match the impressive Easthigh throughout. Easthigh underlined their intentions the moment the referee declared the contest on.
They charged forward in numbers, never giving the Chief Charles defence any breathing space and opened the scoring when the game was 30 minutes old.
Their goal came from South African Under-17 player' Speedy Mabaso who headed home a Zakhele Shabangu corner kick.
The first half ended with Easthigh leading 1-0. Then Lindukunhle Khoza scored in the 51st minute for what was to be a 2-0 win.
Goodman Ngobeni, Easthigh coach, described the win as a morale booster ahead of their Under-14 Mille Cup and the Under-17 MTN Cup national pla-offs.
l In netball, Central High School beat Guduza Secondary School 20 - 15.
