It's back to square one for Anthony Tshehla who turned down a WBF junior lightweight title fight with Zolani Marali due to a meagre purse.
The purse offered for that 12-rounder was R8000. Now the "Blue Jaguar" has accepted R6000 to fight Jasper Seroka over eight rounds.
Their fight forms part of Branco Milenkovic's six-bout programme at the Carousel in Hammanskraal on Friday night.
Tshehla, a former SA, All Africa and WBC International featherweight and WBA Pan African junior lightweight title holder, says he needs money for his studies.
"I will go in there and do what comes naturally despite being paid crap. Our market value here at home is very low and it seems promoters do not want to better it," said Tshehla, a BSc student at Wits University.
"I am directing my energy towards my books because it's the only passport to a better future. I had high hopes about boxing but clearly it was not meant to change my life."
The stylish pugilist whose skills are honed by his father Paul "Sikabopha" Tshehla, is not perturbed that he does not know Seroka.
"I expect the fight to be competitive based on my assumption that he is young and he will be boosted by the fact that he will be fighting a former champion.
"I will disappoint him though," said Tshehla who boasts 25 wins, nine losses and two draws.
He is rated fifth in the junior lightweight class while the number one ranking Seroka has one loss from 15 fights.
Zukisani Kwa- yiba will defend the WBC strawweight title against Alex Aryo of Philip- pines in the main fight while Jonas Kgasago will defend the SA mini flyweight belt against Mzukisi Myeki.
