The Mpumalanga education department has summoned a teacher to a disciplinary hearing after she allegedly forced a pupil to take an Aids test.

The Mpumalanga education department has summoned a teacher to a disciplinary hearing after she allegedly forced a pupil to take an Aids test.

Justice must be seen to be done and this matter must be laid to rest once the facts have been ascertained.

Thoko Hlatswayo, the pupil forced to undergo the HIV test, needs to have her faith in the justice system restored.

Thoko scratched the teacher on the arm after suffering an epileptic seizure. The teacher feared she had been infected with HIV.

She asked Thoko's mother for permission to have her daughter tested. The mom refused, but Thoko was still sent for testing.

Now the teacher is charged with discrimination and must face the music.
