John "Shoes" Moshoeu has agreed in principle to a new deal with AmaZulu and chances are the seasoned midfielder will feature when Usuthu host Bloemfontein Celtic at Princess Magogo Stadium on Sunday.
Their Castle Premiership match starts at 3pm.
Moshoeu returned to the Usuthu kraal on Tuesday and has been hard at training since. He could have been back on Monday, but he attended the funeral of Gift Leremi on behalf of AmaZulu.
"I think there is a light at the end of the tunnel for me at AmaZulu and I can confirm that I have agreed in principle with them," said Moshoeu yesterday.
"I think we still need to work together and I would not have been here if I was not positive of a new deal. I have not signed anything yet but talks are continuing well."
But Philani Mabaso, AmaZulu spokesman, insisted yesterday that Moshoeu had signed on the dotted line.
"Shoes is our player and we are all excited to have him back," Mabaso said.
Mabaso is right to be thrilled by the return of the player whose wealth of experience will benefit the team.
Moshoeu is arguably one of the most disciplined and committed players in the Premiership and has defied age.
The former Kaizer Chiefs linkman, who helped the Durban club to retain its Premiership status in the playoffs in June, has been negotiating for a new deal with AmaZulu since the end of the past season.
Mabaso was confident of toppling Celtic on Sunday .
"Celtic are coming to us and we will ensure that they return to Bloemfontein pointless. We also enjoy great support when playing at home and we don't want to disappoint our supporters on Sunday."
Sello Nduna, Celtic's publicist responded: "We are not going down to Durban for a holiday, but to compete with AmaZulu."
