Golfers chip in for charity fundraiser
B3 Funeral Services will stage a fundraising golf tournament at Springs Country Club next Sunday (September 23).
The event, which is being played for the first time, will be used to raise funds for the Fountain of Love Orphanage Home in Katlehong.
The home houses 13 children who are HIV positive, and an additional 70 orphans who attend day care. Rosy Duduzile Mthembu, who is in charge of the home, also started a feeding scheme for more than 200 children from the informal settlement.
"I'm excited and I feel proud to see companies like B3 coming on board to help. I hope that in future more companies will come forward to assist us," she said.
Tournament organisers Felicity Machaha and Mabina Mothibi said the children's plight has touched Matthews Mogafe, boss of B3 and he had promised to sponsor the event.
"We'll be using the Springs Country Club for free on the day, and that was organised by B3. We hope to raise substantial funds for the home and we hope that other companies will also make some donations," said Machaha.
She anticipate a fun-filled day, with lots of prizes for the players. The green fee is R250 a player and that includes a T-shirt, cap and halfway house. Tee-off time is at 6.30am and those who are keen to take part can contact Mothibi at 082-356-2166 or Felicity Machaha at 083-261-3171.
