The United Christian Democratic Party (UCDP) in North West won a major victory yesterday.

The United Christian Democratic Party (UCDP) in North West won a major victory yesterday.

This when Judge Justice Monama of the Mmabatho high court dismissed an application by a long-serving provincial parliamentarian not to be fired from the organisation.

Rochester Matlholwa took the UCDP to court after he was ousted as a member of the party two weeks ago. His application was dismissed with costs.

The UCDP accused him of: wanting to cross the floor, disrespect and disloyalty to party leadership.

He was further accused of attempting to form his own party.

Earlier this week, UCDP national chairman Sipho Mfundisi told Sowetan the party "had given Matlholwa many chances to obey party instructions and discipline, but he failed to do so. [So] the party decided to relieve him of his duties as his behaviour."

He also said Matlholwa refused to be deployed as ordered. - Elisha Molefe
