Mfundo Shumana is likely to make his long-awaited comeback when Ajax Cape Town host the unbeaten Jomo Cosmos in a Castle Premiership match at Newlands Stadium on Sunday at 3pm.

The 22-year-old midfielder has been out for eight months because of a back injury. Also back from injury is Dominic Isaacs, which should be good news for the Urban Warriors who are keen to keep a clean slate at home on Sunday.

But the hosts will miss forward Nathan Paulse who was given his marching orders in their 1-0 win over Black Leopards at the same venue on August 25. They will also be without influential linkman Clifford "Robot" Ngobeni who is injured.

Ajax also won their last match on the road when they beat Benoni Premier United 2-1 in Durban on September 2 and their success against the Rabbits was a morale boost going into their clash on Sunday.

But Ezenkosi are equally motivated for their potentially tough battle against Ajax after they beat SuperSport United by the same scoreline at home on the same day.

"We know what Cosmos are bringing to this match and we are not going to take them lightly," Thabiso Mekuto, Ajax's spokesman, said yesterday.

"We are encouraged that Paulse and Mfundo are back and available for selection on Sunday. This has made us positive that we can secure a positive result on Sunday."

Andrew Rabutla, Cosmos' manager, said yesterday they were bracing themselves for a difficult assignment in Cape Town.

"We will not undermine them, especially in front of their own supporters," Rabutla said.

The visitors have been bolstered by the return from flu of defender Thapelo Tshilo and midfielder Sipho Sephadi.
