In 1970 at the age of 24, Biko wrote two polemics - Black souls in white skin, a critique of leftist and liberals, and We Blacks, a thesis of colonial capitalism.
Like other young leaders of his time such as Barney Pityana, he was influenced by the Society of Young Africans. The influence of Black Consciousness philosophy on Bantu Biko can be attributed to Mangaliso Sobukwe.
Biko's brother Khaya joined the PAC of Azania in 1960.
Bantu Biko developed the mental revolution concept of the PAC leader Sobukwe.
In 1970 and 1971 Bantu Biko gave a lecture tour in Cape Town with the theme Frank Talk.
