Long tables stretched from Fourth Avenue to First Avenue, along colourful 7th Street in Melville in Johannesburg.
The tables were packed with diners sampling fine food.
The atmosphere was electric. People smiled and hugged each other. I asked myself why the 30, or so restaurants in Melville don't cook such great meals all the time?
This was my experience last year when I attended the now famous Visa Long-long-long table food festival.
The annual food extravaganza will take place again on October 18. The international development charity organisation - Starfish Greathearts Foundation for children orphaned and made vulnerable by HIV-Aids - are confident that this year's event will be even better than before.
They say that the food will be more delicious, the smiles will be wider and there will be more people than the 1000 who attended last year.
At the launch on Wednesday at Loft Restaurant, the media was given a glimpse of what to expect.
If the food and wine is anything to go by, it's going to be one great feast.
Visitors can expect super three-course meals and fantastic Caribbean entertainment. Calypso, reggae and tropical rhythm will transport you all the way to the islands.
