The world over, prodigies are known to have egos to match their great talents.

The world over, prodigies are known to have egos to match their great talents.

This country's best footballing export, Benni McCarthy, is no exception. Endowed with excellent footballing ability, McCarthy has shown he can throw a giant tantrum as much as speak out of pique. Small wonder he has a love-hate relationship with Safa's bosses, from whom he has been vainly demanding an apology and respect.

But the sooner McCarthy realises he should not sweat the small stuff by seeking to score rhetorical goals over Safa, the better for all. Rather he should exercise a little humility and focus on what he does best - play soccer. Anything less from him will pass for sheer petulance.
