Yakubu Aiyegbeni's transfer to Everton nearly failed to materialise because of work permit complications for not playing 75 percent of his country's international games last year.

And now Benni McCarthy is available for the national team without any apology from Safa's executive member, Mubarak Mohamed.

Unlike Spanish authorities the English seem not to care how many years you spent in Europe or in England, like it happened to Yakubu. In order to get a work permit you need to have played a certain number of matches for your own country.
