Change to betting rules for punters

Horseplayers are reminded of the changes to Pick 6 pools on race meetings in Mauritius, Zimbabwe and Kenya effective from Monday.

Horseplayers are reminded of the changes to Pick 6 pools on race meetings in Mauritius, Zimbabwe and Kenya effective from Monday.

As with the Jackpot on international meetings launched on Monday, neither the bracketing of horses from the same stable nor the first-timer rule apply to the Pick 6 on races outside South Africa. Zimbabwe, Kenya and Mauritius are the only countries outside South Africa on which TAB operates the bet. All Pick 6 carryovers from these countries will go into a Maxi Pick 6 on a race meeting in Mauritius on the last weekend of each month, or another selected foreign venue, normally Kenya or Zimbabwe. Maxi Pick 6 pools will include all carryovers up to and including the Tuesday preceding them.

Not applying the rules to Jackpot and Pick 6 pools on races outside South Africa has brought it into line with many overseas racing jurisdictions and will facilitate commingling opportunities in the future, as well as eliminating potential confusion. The bracketing of horses from the same stable and the first-timer rule will continue to apply to Jackpots and Pick 6s on races in South Africa.
