'APC is new home for Africanists'

Former PAC deputy president Themba Godi says his newly formed African Peoples Convention (APC) will be a new home for pan-Africanists disappointed with the lack of direction and leadership in the PAC.

Former PAC deputy president Themba Godi says his newly formed African Peoples Convention (APC) will be a new home for pan-Africanists disappointed with the lack of direction and leadership in the PAC.

Speaking at the launch of the APC yesterday, Godi said his party would preserve and advance the dreams of PAC martyrs, Robert Sobukwe and Zeph Mothopeng.

"Our move from the PAC is a vote of no-confidence in the current leadership of Letlapa Mphahlele.

"He lacks leadership and only consults his allies.

"He passionately believes in what he says," said Godi.

He said the PAC was "dogmatic" and was a "dream perpetually deferred". - Eric Naki
