Fifa searches for five-star service

World soccer governing body Fifa has embarked on a search for individuals and companies to provide five-star hospitality for various competitions, including the 2010 World Cup.

World soccer governing body Fifa has embarked on a search for individuals and companies to provide five-star hospitality for various competitions, including the 2010 World Cup.

The tenders are divided into two categories.

The 2010 World Cup in South Africa is in the Tender A package with the 2009 Confederations Cup, 2011 Women's World Cup and 2014 World Cup.

Tender B covers the 2013 Confederations Cup and 2014 World Cup.

After taking care of 323000 guests at the 2006 World Cup in Germany, Fifa is again looking to provide hospitality of the highest calibre at the subsequent competitions, it said.

"As such, Fifa would like to invite interested parties with the necessary international event experience to participate in Fifa's public tender for the sale, management and production of the Fifa Hospitality Programme."

The tender opened on August 31 and closes on October 1.

"The Fifa Hospitality Programme offers guests a range of services, such as match tickets, facilities (stadium suites, lounges and marquees), catering, parking, transportation, entertainment, gifts, accommodation and tourism," Fifa said.

The Fifa Hospitality Programme comprises the following three areas: the Fifa Commercial Hospitality Programme, which caters to the general public; the Fifa Affiliates Hospitality Programme, which is reserved for Fifa's affiliates; and the Fifa-Local Organising Committee VIP Hospitality Programme for guests of Fifa and the host country's local organising committee.

"This is a golden opportunity for our people who have been saying they wanted to benefit from the 2010 World Cup to apply," said Ria Ledwaba, soccer administrator-turned businesswoman.

"People must start registering companies in case they have not done that now.

"Those who wait for 2010 will get absolutely nothing."

Interested parties can find further information regarding the tender by downloading the information and procedure letter from www.fifa.com/hospitality, or by sending a request by e-mail to hospitality-tender@fifa.org.
