Sadtu not taking sides

The South African Democratic Teachers Union (Sadtu) says it is not taking sides in the dispute between its president Willie Madisha and the SACP general secretary Blade Nzimande, over the missing R500000 Madisha allegedly gave to the SACP boss.

Sadtu secretary-general Thulas Nxesi yesterday said: "Sadtu will not take sides in a dispute between individuals. This matter must not be allowed to divide our organisations."

He said the union believes that this is an internal SACP matter and recognises the integrity of the internal processes and investigations of the SACP in this regard.

"The union also takes the view that nothing positive will come from public attacks in the media, and calls on all parties to show restraint in this regard," said Nxesi.
