The SABC's decision to withdraw from the South African Editors' Forum (Sanef) over the way the print media handled Health Minister Manto Tshabalala-Msimang was roundly condemned yesterday with calls on the incoming board to dismiss group chief executive, Dali Mpofu.

Mpofu said the SABC would no longer be " made a whipping boy by the profit-driven media. Even less are we prepared to associate with the enemies of our freedom and our people. We cannot remain quiet while our mothers and our democratically chosen leaders are stripped naked for the sole reason of selling newspapers.

"Shame on all of you, especially those who have turned their backs on their own cultural values . , pretending to be converted to foreign, frigid, and feelingless freedoms," he wrote. - Eric Naki
