A taxi driver, Clifford Sinekiwe Hadebe, was shot dead and four taxis belonging to the St Faith's Taxi Association at Ixopo in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands were set alight on Wednesday.

Hadebe, 35, is the second driver who was shot dead in two weeks. He was found in his room with gunshot wounds in the cheek, right arm and back.

Police spokesman Superintendent Zandra Hechter said police had rushed to the Nkwazi area in St Faiths after they were told about the shooting.

In another incident, two more taxis were found burnt outside two houses in the Highflats area. A house was set alight. No one was injured and no arrest has been made. - Canaan Mdletshe
