Totaliser Agency Board (TAB) is delighted to announce that from next week it will operate the popular Jackpot bet on most race meetings held outside South Africa on which it offers betting.

The Jackpot on foreign races will always be on the last four races carded and kicks off with UK race meetings at Hamilton Park and Lingfield Park on Monday.

From that date, TAB will add the Jackpot to its current menu of bets on all race meetings from the UK, France, Singapore, Hong Kong, Zimbabwe, Mauritius, Dubai and Kenya, provided at least four races are carded for TAB betting. TAB commingles all tote bets in South Africa into single TAB national pools through Phumelela's Amtote betting system.

There will be three key differences between the Jackpot rules on foreign racing and races within South Africa. They are:

l The bracketing or coupling of horses from the same stable will not apply to the Jackpot on racing outside South Africa.

l The first-timer rule will not apply to the Jackpot on races outside South Africa. The rule will continue to apply to Jackpots on races within South Africa, in terms of which if a horse that has not raced before wins, the first horse to finish of those who have raced before, also qualifies.

l Carry overs will be accumulated into a monthly Maxi Jackpot on a selected foreign race meeting on the last Friday of each month, regardless of the foreign meeting from which they originated.

TAB customers should note that the coupling and first-timer rules for Jackpots on foreign races will apply to TAB Pick 6 pools on races outside South Africa from Monday. From that date neither couplings nor the first-timer rule will apply to TAB Pick 6 pools on racing in Zimbabwe.
