Sowetan Extra Time on move

Prominent Limpopo politicians, business and sports people are expected to invade Meropa Casino and Entertainment World in Polokwane tomorrow night.

Prominent Limpopo politicians, business and sports people are expected to invade Meropa Casino and Entertainment World in Polokwane tomorrow night.

This will be during the Sowetan Extra Time, a get-together that is also presented by e.tv and The Famous Grouse malt whisky.

It will be the first gathering to take place outside Gauteng since the concept was launched at the beginning of this year.

This is also in line with an commitment from Sowetan and its partners that the event will take place in all the 2010 World Cup host cities.

Simphiwe Ndungane, Sowetan deputy marketing manager, said the Polokwane event will deal with the business opportunities offered by the World Cup.

Tomorrow's gathering will be addressed by Joe Phaahla, director-general of the 2010 World Cup Government Unit.

Sharing the stage with Phaahla will be his homegirl and businesswoman Ria Ledwaba, a director of Ifihlile Group of Companies.

Ifihlile were among the companies involved in the building of the state-of-the- art Safa House, which is also serving as offices of the Local Organising Committee and Fifa.

Also attending will be lucky members of the public who received an invitation from the organisers after replying to an advert by text message two weeks ago.

Kedi Mabotja, chairman of Limpopo Black Business Forum 2010, said: "We are delighted Sowetan Extra Time is finally coming to our shores.

"This is a great platform for the business people and the whole of Limpopo who want to benefit from the World Cup to hear about the opportunities available."
