The Federation of South African Amateur Bodybuilders, in conjunction with Johannesburg Body-builders, will honour former president Frans Molefe Khunou at the Dlamini Multipurpose Sports Complex on Saturday.

Sello Khunou, his son and Fosaab president, said they would honour Frans for his contribution to the sport, in a tournament that will be known as the Frans Khunou Champs.

"We have decided to honour him while he is still alive. His contribution to the sport is immeasurable and he has been committed to the game.

"He has unearthed a lot of body-builders in the country and we're expecting over 300 on the night," said Sello.

He said they have extended invitations to other provinces and that a number of body-building veterans would give demonstrations.

"We hope it will be one of the biggest shows to be staged in Soweto and the entry is free.

"We're trying to get more spectators, even those who know nothing about the sport are welcome."

Sello said they had been running clinics at different centres in the country and staged tournaments at places such as Thokoza, Kroonstad, Soweto and QwaQwa since April. He also appealed for financial assistance to keep the sport alive.
