Unchain petrol and food prices

Don't get me wrong. I am very grateful that the petrol price is coming down, but there needs to be a matching reduction in food prices. Every time petrol goes up, food goes up too, but when petrol comes down, food remains expensive. Why?

I know about specials, but here's a reality check. More than 18million people in South Africa live on R10 a day. Many of them can't afford a special here and there. What they need are consistent price reductions, not a once off.

We need to untie the price of food from the price of petrol.

Too many of our poorer people spend more money on getting back and forth to work than on food, when it should be the opposite.
