Another suspect in the condoms scam has been arrested.
Sajeev Joseph, factory manager at Zalatex, the black empowerment company established by condoms manufacturer Latex Surgical Products, was the second person to be arrested after Sowetan exposed the scam.
Though police could not identify the suspect, Zalatex employees confirmed Joseph had been arrested.
They said he was arrested at the company's premises in the morning. Police said they were expecting to make more arrests.
They declined to say whether another senior executive at Zalatex was among those still to be arrested.
National police spokesman Captain Percy Morokane said: "Another suspect in the alleged defective condoms saga was arrested this morning in Johannesburg."
He said the suspect, a man no age given, was arrested at his workplace by the Pretoria Commercial Crimes Unit.
Morokane said the suspect would appear in the Pretoria commercial crimes court this morning on charges of corruption and fraud.
Another suspect S'phiwe Fikizolo, a South African Bureau of Standards senior employee, was arrested early this week.
Fikizolo, also charged with fraud and corruption for allegedly certifying defective condoms for cash, appeared in court yesterday and had his case postponed to October 10 for further investigation. His bail of R2000 was extended.
