Football is a lucrative business worldwide. This makes it imperative that referees are unbiased in officiating games.

England referee Rob Styles apologised for the penalty that saw Chelsea share the spoils with Liverpool .

For his blunder he was barred from officiating at this weekend's matches.

Styles' concession should be appreciated - and a lesson to all referees, including ours, to own up to mistakes.

We appreciate England's system of monitoring referees and wish other countries would apply it as well.

But what matters most is that there should be recourse for teams that have been disadvantaged. They should either be allotted full points or have the game replayed.

That would be justice.
