Wind your neck in, Jacques

Jacques Kallis' behaviour and utterances after being left out of the current T20 Cricket World Cup squad are disturbing. For the record, Kallis is not the first person to be left out or be rested.

I fully understand the thinking behind his resting. Cricket South Africa has explained that because of their heavy schedule, the Proteas will have to rest key players .

Kallis is one such key player. I honestly do not know where the talk of ulterior motives from Mark Boucher comes from. Can we also assume the bosses in swimming, rugby, tennis and various sports codes which have hardly transformed also have ulterior motives?

Or, is it because cricket in this country has mostly black leadership? Kallis knows that his game is not suitable for T20. If his gripe is about the money selected players are going to get, then we have a mercenary in our midst. He has no birthright to be included in the side even if the type of cricket doesn't suit him.

For him to convince anyone, he must start by upping his One Day International strike rate, then we will believe him.
