I read with the greatest disgust about the accident involving 18 children on the back of a bakkie. In Europe it is illegal to transport people on the back of a bakkie.

That law is there for a reason. I work on the road, and every day I see people with passengers on the back of bakkies. Sometimes I cannot believe how some of these people drive.

They often drive at high speeds, racing through traffic. If anything were to go wrong (which can so easily happen), the people at the back would suffer serious injuries. How long will it be before this practice gets outlawed in this country?
