A Limpopo mother and her two sons are expected to appear in the Giyani magistrates' court today in connection with the murder of their father at the weekend.

According to the police spokesman in the Mopani area, Superintendent Moatshe Ngoepe, the man was hit with an assortment of objects after an argument with his wife.

Ngoepe said the fight between the couple happened on Saturday night.

The woman's sons, aged 17 and 19, helped their 38-year-old mother attack their father at their family hut in Ndhambi village, outside Giyani.

Ngoepe said the man's attackers allegedly left him for dead after the attack.

He said the seriously injured man was left alone in the hut after the attack.

"The man was taken to hospital after one of his relatives who visited him found him lying on a bed in a pool of blood," he said.

"The visitor then called an ambulance to take the victim to the Nkhensani Hospital."

Ngoepe said: "The victim unfortunately died on arrival at the institution."

He said the suspects were arrested after the police were informed about the attack.

The motive for the attack is unknown.

"We are really disturbed by this kind of attack," he said.

"Families experiencing domestic problems must consult with the relevant authorities for assistance."

The deceased was identified as William Mabunda, 42.

"Also worrying is the fact that the boys' hands are now soaked with blood," said Ngoepe.

"This will also affect their performance in school and the villagers see them as killers."
