If you feel lucky, have a loose R20000 lying around and fancy a spot of gambling, the Million Dollar Poker Tournament could be just the place for you.

Set to take place from September 7-9 at Sun City the poker tournament promises to be the biggest Africa has ever seen with a total of $1,1 million up for grabs.

Speaking at a media launch in Rosebank, Johannesburg, last Thursday, Gary Lentin, the tournament organiser, promised both players and spectators an event to remember.

"Poker is making a comeback and is becoming more and more popular across a broad spectrum of people.

"Just recently Raymond Rahme put South Africa on the world poker map when he collected $3 million at the World Poker Championships held in America," said Lentin.

"We are also expecting a number of celebrities - both locally and from abroad - to be attending the event."

Local singer Danny K, who was at the launch and will also be participating, is a confirmed poker addict but stresses the game is about skill and not luck.

First prize is a whopping $500000 and the women who stays the longest in the competition will win a diamond to the value of R250000.
