I wish to clarify the statement issued on August 3 on the Khutsong saga which suggested that the ANC caucus in the West Rand District Municipality was urging the "ANC-led alliance and President Thabo Mbeki" to end the violence.

Despite my official position on the council, those were my personal views.

As a member of the ANC, I cannot tolerate a situation whereby constitutional and legal processes are disrespected by violent-crazy individuals who disrupt schooling by using young people to destroy government property. The national leadership of the SACP should intervene because the party's name has been used in illegal activities.
