Peddling Cansa message

Several prominent rugby players will be competing at the yearly cycling challenge, the Powerade Cansa Lost City Challenge taking place this weekend at Sun City.

The event, which is in its tenth year this year, consists of two races - tomorrow's Cycle Challenge and the Mountain Bike Challenge on Sunday.

Johan du Toit, the organiser, says popular Springbok player Mahlatse "Chilliboy" Ralepelle and former Springbok and cancer survivor Chris Rossouw, have committed themselves to the race, as have 100 black development riders from Harmony.

"As we all know, it is vital that cancer be detected in its early stages, but statistics have revealed that in rural areas people fall prey to the disease, something that can be easily avoided. The money allows Cansa to send doctors into these communities to test people before the disease reaches critical stages," Du Toit said. - Linda Moreotsene
