Lax immigration laws in SA are cause of problems

South Africa must tighten its immigration laws. Botswana does not have visa requirements, and Nigerians with South African passports and IDs come to our country with their drugs and criminal activities.

South Africa must tighten its immigration laws. Botswana does not have visa requirements, and Nigerians with South African passports and IDs come to our country with their drugs and criminal activities.

Besides Nigerians bribing Home Affairs officials, the documents are easy to get in South Africa because the requirements are so lax. In Botswana, you can't get a passport or ID just by marrying a Motswana or because you work in this country.

That is why we do not attract dubious expatriates who merely want to be citizens. They have to wait 10 years to even think of becoming Batswana. They must speak Setswana so that, if they have our papers, we are comfortable that they are with us. This is why it is so difficult for shady characters to come to Botswana unlawfully.

South Africa attracts more foreigners than any other country in Africa. This is part of the remedy for your many problems.

Lastly, I heard Charles Kasinja Modise accusing Blade Nzimande of embezzling his R500000 donation. I was shocked by his accent. Then I read that he was being investigated for fraudulently obtaining a South African ID. The probe is a waste of time. He is not South African. His accent gives him away. He should be sent back to his country immediately.
