Go-getter Mthembu passes on

Annah Ntombizodwa Mthembu, a go-getter, fighter and one of the most enterprising people I know, died last weekend.

She was one woman who believed in herself and always wanted things done accordingly. Mthembu was also a leader in her own right, very confident and disciplined.

Although many women in the country still rely on men in their lives to run their businesses, she was in a different league. She did her own thing.

Although dogged by ill-health, she managed to achieve her goals. She was a very disciplined and organised businesswoman.

Born in Orlando East in Soweto on July 5 1964, she started her schooling at Thabisang Lower Primary in Orlando West. She proceeded to Malatse Motsepe High School in Mmakau in Pretoria for her high school education.

She then joined Pick 'n Pay Hypermarket in North Gate where she was a consumer adviser.

She also worked for the same company at Southgate, Steeldale and Norwood branches as a manager. She resigned from her job when the business bug bit her.

Mthembu opened her own business - Mzansi Restaurant - at Devland, where she also bought a house.

She lived at 11562B Orlando West Extension. She is survived by two children Thulani and Celiwe, her mother, sister and a brother.

She will be buried at Avalon Cemetery on Sunday. The service for her funeral starts at 8am at the Seventh Adventist Church in Orlando West.
