The closing date for the Conversation with Biko competition has been extended to September 30.

Organisers, Steve Biko Foundation and Xarra Books, have extended the date to enable participants more time to polish their essays.

Essays should be about the relevance and effect of Biko's ideas today or as if the writer is having a conversation with Biko. Poems should be no longer than three A4 pages and prose not more than 10 pages or 3000. Pieces that are longer will not be considered. All writing must be in English. The competition is open to any person from age 14 to 36 and from anywhere in South Africa and Africa.

e-mail your essay, prose or poem to: writingbiko@xarrabooks.com.

Judges will select the best 10 entries and all entries received may be used in any Steve Biko Foundation publications.
