Apology

Sowetan on June 5 published a story in which a Westonaria family claimed that Prosperity Life had failed to pay benefits to their dead daughter.

The Kopedis from Bekkersdal had alleged their daughter, Nthatsi, 18, who died on May 8, was insured for R10000.

Prosperity Life's chief executive, MB Mokwena has since brought the following to our attention, which made it difficult to process the Kopedi's claim:

The family had not produced all the rele- vant documents, including the ID and birth certificate, despite repeated requests to do so.

The name of the deceased on the policy document is different from the one on the abridged death certificate, and the parents of the dead girl had never visited the company's offices.

Nkele Chamano, who is quoted as the company's senior consultant, does not work in the Roodepoort office.

The Sowetanapologises to Prosperity Life for the inconvenience caused by the article.
