What car would you recommend for a first-time buyer?
I am looking at the Tata, the Yaris from Toyota and a Chico. - Ntombi, KZN

If your choices are those three, then it's no contest.
The Toyota Yaris is newer, better looking and well-priced for its segment.
The VW Chico is fantastic for sentimental reasons, but common sense would warn you that this is old technology in an old car with new, and very expensive, pricing.
As for the Tata Indica, well what can I say? They sell thousands of these. They are well priced, real budget cars, but fall short on the quality, power and performance of the Toyota.
