Fanyana Ngwenya, Manchester United's director, said they will buy kit for the club with the R15000 they won in the Autumn Soccer Challenge at the weekend.

United, who campaign in the Ehlanzeni SAB Castle Regional League, beat Nyamazane Celtic 2-0, courtesy of goals from Madala Nkosi and Rodger Nkuna.

Said Ngwenya: "The win is a good start in preparing for the new season.

"We are aiming for promotion to the Vodacom League."

United missed promotion last season after succumbing in the regional playoffs.

On the way to the final, United beat defending champions Barberton City Stars, who are campaigning in the Vodacom League, 1-0 in the quarterfinals.

They booked their place to the final after defeating FC Benfica 2-0. The tournament, which was sponsored by Heidel Eggs and BJ Group, was contested by six sides from the Ehlanzeni region who are campaigning in the Vodacom League and two teams from the SAB Castle League.

For their effort United pocketed R15000, gold medals and a floating trophy, while Celtic received R9000 and silver medals.

FC Barcelona received R5000 for third place after beating FC Benfica, who came fourth and received R3000.

Four women's teams from the region were also involved in their version of the event. Flamingo beat SuperSport 4-2 to pocket the first prize of R5000 and gold medals and SuperSport received R3000.
