The JSE rebounded yesterday from last week's global stock market rout. Anglo American's shares closed 6,3percent higher at R408, helping to lift the JSE's top 40 index of blue chips nearly 3percent to 25125 points. The top gainers included the shares of local banks, which were hammered on Friday when banking shares around the world plummeted because of fears they had invested in US "subprime" home loans. Investec, the hardest hit local bank in Friday's crash, regained more than 6percent to close at R83,20. -Staff Reporter
