Tsogo Sun Gaming will stage the nailbiting final of South Africa's most prestigious amateur golf event, the Duke of Edinburgh Cup, at the Montecasino and Pecanwood Country Club today.
The tournament is a charity competition that started at different venues in the country in July.
It will be contested by more than 100 players with the winner joining four regional finalists for the final shootout.
The four are Bertie Diedericks of Khukhulua (Emnotweni Casino in Nelspruit), Daryll Hendriks of Gideon Mining Beneficiation (The Ridge Casino in Witbank), Daniel Gouws of Schaefer Assets (Hemingways Casino in East London) and Trish Taylor of East Coast Radio (Suncoast Casino in Durban).
A shootout between these four players will determine the overrall winner, who will take part in the Duke of Edinburgh's Individual World Final at The Berkshire and World Pairs Competition at Wentworth, England, in October.
"It's going to be a nailbiting finish to a tournament that has seen more than 1000 players from all over the country competing for the grand prize," said Jene Godfrey, the organiser.
Through their sponsorship of the South African leg of the international golf tournament, Tsogo Sun Gaming and its five properties contribute more than R700000 to charities around the country.
The tournament was established to raise funds for the International Golf for Youth Limited, which supports youth projects all over the world. Since its inception in 2000, the tournament, which attracts participation from 10 countries around the world, has raised more R7 million for selected beneficiaries.
