A memorial plaque will be erected in honour of 24 Poqo members who were executed by the apartheid government during the 1963 Mbhashe Massacre in Transkei.

A memorial plaque will be erected in honour of 24 Poqo members who were executed by the apartheid government during the 1963 Mbhashe Massacre in Transkei.

The plaque will be erected on land donated by Chief Ngwenyathi Joyi at Mputhi village in Engcobo, Eastern Cape.

Poqo is the armed wing of the PAC.

PAC spokesman Waters "Bishop" Toboti said a sod-turning ceremony will be held on the site of the massacre on Friday.

The event will be attended by PAC president Letlapa Mphahlele, his deputy Themba Godi and former party president Clarence Makwetu. The mayor of OR Tambo district municipality, Zoleka Capa, will also attend the event. - Eric Naki
