Two stab each other over lover

Riot Hlatshwayo

Two men, one of them a teacher, were seriously injured when they stabbed each other with the same broken bottle during a fight, allegedly over a female teacher.

The incident happened on Sunday morning at Shabalala Trust, near Hazyview.

The Tfolinhlanhla Primary School teacher was admitted to the Nelspruit Medi-Clinic while the other man was taken to Matikwane Hospital in Mkhuhlu.

The men are believed to be involved with the same female teacher.

The male teacher was visiting his lover-colleague at her home when the other man arrived, police said.

"An argument erupted. One of the men broke a bottle and stabbed the other several times.

"During the fight, the other man managed to grab the broken bottle and, in turn, stabbed his attacker several times," said Hazyview police spokesman, Captain John Mbambo yesterday.

Both men were seriously injured, with stab wounds all over their bodies.

The woman, who is a widow, was not injured during the incident.

Neighbours arranged for the two injured men to be transported to the hospital.

When Sowetan spoke to police about the incident yesterday, the woman allegedly at the centre of the drama was still giving them her statement.
