STRONG TEAM FOR GAMES

Mpumalanga will send their strongest team to the fourth edition of the national indigenous games.

Mpumalanga will send their strongest team to the fourth edition of the national indigenous games.

The games are billed for Eastern Cape from August 30 to September 2.

At the weekend, the three Mpumalanga districts - Gert Sibande, Enkanagala and Ehlanzeni - converged in Badplaas to compete in eight indigenous games, namely incuva, kgathi, morabaraba, diketo, intonga, dibeke, juskei and kho-kho. The purpose was to select a provincial team for the games.

Mpumalanga hosted the national indigenous games last year and came fourth overall.

France Motau, Mpumalanga recreation assistant director, said: "We want to improve on last year's position. As from next week we will be holding mini camps to prepare the team."

Mpumalanga has established 18 hubs in the province to promote the indigenous games. - Richard Nkosi
