The ANC, led by its Free State chairman Ace Magashule, brought joy to Tumahole, Parys, yesterday in the form of a R500000 cash donation.

Magashule, pictured, who was joined by ANC provincial leaders, business people and local councillors, also donated 800 pairs of school shoes, 100 blankets, bicycles, cellphones and electrical appliances to orphans and the aged in the township.

The money was donated by local private businesses, Fezile Dabi District Municipality and Ngwathe Local Municipality.

Magashule said the initiative was a project established to eradicate poverty in the Free State.

He said: "There are many orphans in the province.

"As the government it is our obligation to take responsibility for those who are in need.

"We are trying hard to motivate orphans not to quit school because of poverty at their homes."
