Police arrested a 34-year-old Congolese man for conning business people out of thousands of rands by swapping real money with fake.

The suspect was arrested in Atteridgeville, Pretoria, yesterday following a trap set-up by his victims. His accomplice managed to escape when he saw the police.

Their operation strategy was to fool their victims that they would double their money.

In November Soshanguve businessman, Erick Mokoena, 49, lost R250000 to the scam.

The con artist told him he would double his money only to find pieces of papers.
